Procedures for Graduate Student Exchange for Research Activities with Partner Universities

The Faculty of Psychology encourages graduate students to gain international learning experiences through research exchange programs with our partnering universities. Interested students can express their intent to participate in the exchange program through the following steps.

  1. Students look up the profiles of psychology faculty members at partner universities and nominate the faculty members at the host university whom they wish to work with during the exchange. The Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University has research exchange agreements with the following universities :
  1. Students and their advisors discuss and draft an exchange plan, which can last from one month to 12 months, using this Activity Plan Template. The planned activities should enhance the quality of student’s research projects and their achievement of program learning outcomes. The plan must be approved and signed by the advisor.
  2. Students fill out the online Graduate Research Exchange Intention Form, specifying the duration, details of planned activities, the preferred mentors (ranked 1 and 2), and the expected outcomes. The student’s transcript (printed from reg.chula.ac.th) and the advisor’s opinion should be attached to the form.
  3. The automated alert system notifies the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Director of the Academic Affairs office, the Assistant Dean of International Affairs, and the International Affairs staff.
  4. The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs informs the Academic Affairs Committee and discusses with the International Affairs Office to prepare for coordination.
  5. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs delegates a contact person who will email the contact person of the host university the student’s information and request a formal meeting with the preferred mentor (cc’ing the student, the advisor, and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean of International Affairs, and the International Affairs staff).
  6. The contact person at the host university approaches the faculty members specified by the student (if the first choice is unavailable, the second choice will be approached) and informs the contact person at the Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University of the results to schedule a meeting between the host faculty member, the student, and the advisor.
  7. The student and advisor discuss the details of the planned activities with the host faculty member, summarize the final plan, and email the report to the contact person and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, cc’ing the Assistant Dean of International Affairs and the International Affairs staff.
  8. The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs coordinates with the Assistant Dean of International Affairs and the International Affairs staff, who will record the outbound exchange statistics, facilitate the student’s visa application, and provide travel advice.
  9. During the exchange, students should report the progress of their planned activities to the Academic Affairs and International Affairs offices at least every three months and notify them upon return.
  10. The program should organize activities for returning students to share their experiences with fellow students and those interested in the exchange program.
