High Achieving PhD Student Scholarship Guidelines, Fiscal Year 2025

 

 

The Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University has allotted a budget for a scholarship for PhD students to attract applicants with high academic and research abilities, and create high-quality academic works and research with our faculty members.

In accordance to Section 34 of the Chulalongkorn University Statute 2008 and the approval of the 21/2024 Faculty of Psychology’s management committee meeting on 6 November 2024, the details of the scholarship are as follows.

 

 

1. 1. This announcement is called “Announcement Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University High Achieving PhD Student Scholarship Guidelines, Fiscal Year 2025”

 

 

2. 2. This announcement is in effect starting from the date of announcement.

 

 

3. Eligible Applicants

 

3.1 Educational qualification must be one of the following;

3.1.1 Completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree program OR

3.1.2 Currently studying in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree of Master’s degree program OR

3.1.3 A Master’s degree student of the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University who has passed the PhD Qualification Exam and has been elevated to PhD level within the academic year of 2024.

 

3.2 Has a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.50 on the date of application and on graduation

 

3.3 Must have an English proficiency store of either 75 or above for CU-TEP OR 550 or above for TOEFL OR 6.5 or above for IELTS OR has graduated or is currently graduating from a program which uses English and the mode of instruction.

 

3.4 Applicants must have a dissertation proposal with no less than 1,000-1,500 words.

 

3.5 Applicants must have a faculty member at the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University agree to be their academic advisor according to the form.

 

 

4. Eligible Recipients

 

4.1 Must have met the requirements stated in No 3. AND

4.2 Must have been given approval by the program committee that the applicant is applying to AND

4.3 Must have passed admission into a PhD program of the Faculty of Psychology in the academic year of 2025

 

 

5. Conditions of the Scholarship

 

5.1 Recipients who receive the scholarship before their dissertation proposal exam must act as an academic or research assistant of their academic advisor for 20 hours a week for the duration of the scholarship (The advisor must include the student’s name in their publications).

 

5.2 Recipients who receive the scholarship after their dissertation proposal exam must act as an academic or research assistant of their academic advisor for 10 hours a week and must have at least one research paper published or waiting to be published within 1 year after the date of graduation with the following requirements.

 

(1) (1) The research paper must be published in an international journal recognised by ISI/SCOPUS with a journal quartile score of 2 or higher according to the latest ranking by the Journal Citation Report – Clarivate Analytics (JCR) or Scimago Journal & country (SJR))

 

(2) In the published paper, the first author listed must be the scholarship recipient student, the academic advisor as the corresponding author, and stated as affiliated with the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University.

 

5.3 Recipients must report their academic, dissertation, and research progress to the program committee via their academic advisor to receive their approval to continue receiving the scholarship in the next semester.

 

5.4 Recipients must report their scholarship in their acknowledgements section as follows

 

Acknowledgements in the dissertation must say “My sincere gratitude to the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University for the scholarship which has benefitted and has been an important factor in helping me complete this research smoothly.”

 

Acknowledgements in any published works must say “This article is a part of a research regarding ……………………… which has been supported via scholarship by the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University.”

 

 

6. Number of Scholarships and Duration

 

6.1 Three Scholarships will be allocated for students who have not yet passed their dissertation proposal exam and each program will receive 1 scholarship with a maximum duration of 4 semesters.

    • University Tuition Fee 35,000 Baht per semester
    • Program Fee 50,000 Baht per semester

Recipients can register for Graduate-level courses while studying in a Bachelor’s degree program without additional fees

 

6.2 Three Scholarships will be allocated for students who have passed their dissertation proposal exam and students can apply for the scholarship in the semester following the proposal exam with a maximum duration of 2 semesters.

    • University Tuition Fee 35,000 Baht per semester

 

 

7. Suspension of Scholarship

The Faculty of Psychology will suspend scholarships in accordance to the following.

 

7.1 Termination of student status

 

7.2 Academic dishonesty

 

7.3 During leave

 

7.4 Recipients are unable to meet the requirements of No. 5

 

7.5 The Faculty of Psychology has seen fit to suspend

 

 

8. Application Process

Students can contact the academic department, Faculty of Psychology from the date of the announcement until 28 February 2025
