Mission
The East West Psychological Science Research Center (or East-West Center) is a part of the Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University. Our mission is to expand collaborative knowledge and psychological research about the influences of culture on human processes and behaviors.
The center was founded in 1996 in recognition of the importance of bringing together strengths of studies from Eastern and Western psychological perspectives. As globalization has challenged our understanding and perception of cultures, there is a need to move beyond an East-West distinction and consider a diverse array of cultures. Today, the center aims to cover a wide range of topics dealing with the intersection of cross-culture and psychology, such as comparative cross-cultural studies, intercultural issues, indigenous psychology, and the eastern perspective of psychology.
We welcome any research size across the spectrum from personal self-report data to large multinational projects. We hope that not only to expand our academic reach to more international partners but also to provide an effective tool in addressing cultural issues and solutions for our own application within.
At a global level, our aim is to facilitate international research collaborations and improve the generalisability of psychological findings. At a more local level, we also focus on research related to cultural issues in Thailand. We invite researchers to contact and discuss collaboration opportunities.
