Seminar Talk: Self-bias across cultures

We would like to invite everyone to a seminar talk by Dr. Heather Winskel, Associate Professor in Psychology at James Cook University, Singapore and Research Fellow of the Cairns Institute.

 

Dr. Winskel will present her research about self-bias with collectivist Vietnamese and bilingual Chinese-English participants in Singapore, using the perceptual associative matching task (Sui, He, and Humphreys, 2012). Moreover, she also compares the results from Vietnamese and Singaporean participants with prior studies, and discuss ideas for future research.

On Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, Dr. Heather Winskel, an associate professor of Psychology at James Cook University, Singapore, presented her research at the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University. Her research was on investigating self-bias in Vietnamese and Chinese-English Singaporean individuals using perceptual associative matching. Additionally, she proposed possible explanations for how culture and language might influence the processing of self-related information.
